Overview

This research is part of Rak Yim project, The dental government service mobile application aim to improve Thai people's dental health including feature for personal health record, tele-consult, and oral journey tracking. The oral journey tracking is design to track oral cleaning activities and eating. The stakeholder want this feature to be a tool for improve Thai people so they add some strict rule on it. Our team have to explore about this idea to make sure that is a efficiency solution.

To archive our goal and keep the project delivery on time. We decide to run a shot interview to find the insight and synthesize attitude and the behavior pattern.

Objective

  • Uncovering user oral cleaning behavior

  • Recommend solution for keep oral journey feature engaged without forcing user

Problem Statement

The stakeholder want oral journey feature to take a photo while blushing every time which might seem inconvenient to user activity.

Work Process

1.Research

Our team decide to use lean UX by conduct shot interview with friend and people in contact. We recruit participants from every persona based on goal of product by aim to used by every people in Thailand.


We recruit 5 participants and conduct shot interview by phone call around 5 to 15 minutes.

Research goal

To understand the attitude and behavior about oral cleaning and oral health interested.

Research question

  • Understand user oral cleaning behavior

  • What factor can encourage user to do oral journey?

  • What make user interested in oral health?

Interview session

In interview session we use Line application as their convenient and ability to recording while interview participant including these demographic:

  • Age: 23-28

  • Occupation: Office employee and Business owner

  • Location: Bangkok

Affinity mapping

After finished interview. Our team start conduct a affinity map workshop to synthesize the information that gathered from user turn into insight.

Key finding

  • User often blush their teeth separate from take a shower

  • 2 of 5 people don't interested about oral health because they don't have any oral health problem.

  • User would like to take a photo after they finished blushing

  • Most of user usually track their health as daily basis such as period tracking, food calories tracking

  • Prize is the factor to encourage user to keep something for long time

2.Ideate

After gathering the results and conducting brainstorming sessions with the team to evaluate the most feasible options, we finalized our solution by transforming the checklist feature in the oral care journey into a tracking tool for monitoring eating and oral cleaning activities.

3.Design

After purpose with stakeholder. We start design the new feature based on insight we found.

Reflection

This research gain a lot of insight of user behavior about how urban people interested in their hygiene and health especially oral health. The fact that prize are the most interesting to give user attended to something is surprise me. The gamification is the efficient method to engage people and I have interested to learn this method to improve my work and solution that I provide in next project.
