Overview

This research is part of the DLD Televet mobile application project. The app provides livestock owners in remote areas with access to veterinary care, helping to overcome the limitations of rural veterinary services. Our team have opportunity to observation in pilot test area to observe usability of farmer, how much they understand function of this app and get feedback to improve the design.

Objective

  • Testing usability application to user

  • Collect user feedback on the user flow.

  • Improve the design to serve user

Problem statement

Most users are farmers with limited tech experience. Their understanding of how to use applications is unique, so the app's flow and design should be tailored to meet the needs of this user group.

Work Process

1.Observation

Our team had the opportunity to conduct observations in a pilot test at farm sites over two days, visiting two farms each day. At each farm, we tested the tele-consultation feature by allowing users to interact with a veterinarian through the service. This helped us assess how well they understood the user flow.

Key finding

  • Most of user struggle to register at the first time

  • Some of the information required to request a tele-consult is difficult for most users to recall

  • The request tele-consult flow are take too long to finished the process for user

2.Ideate

After gathering the results and conducting brainstorming sessions with the team and stakeholders to evaluate the most feasible options, we decide to change login and register page also reduce request a tele-consult process and move some of input to veterinarian side.

3.Design

Old login/register flow

New login/register flow

Old tele-consult request flow

New tele-consult request flow

Reflection

This research provided valuable insights into user behavior, especially regarding the technological limitations of people in countryside areas. We learned that creating a good design isn't just about strictly following stakeholder's requirement or design principles, it requires a deep understanding of users' behaviors and attitudes.
